Organizations and roles
Everything belongs to an organization: your company or team. An organization has:
- members, each with a role
- universes, all on one server (cell), such as
c1.simmail.dev - API keys, each for one universe
- a plan, and billing
When you sign up, you get an organization of your own, with you as its owner and a first universe. You can belong to several organizations, with a different role in each.
Manage your organization at your account page at platform.simmail.dev. From a universe’s dashboard, Organization ↗ takes you there.
Each member has one role in the organization. The same role applies in all of its universes.
| Role | In universes | In the organization |
|---|---|---|
| Viewer | Read everything. | See universes and members. |
| Member | Also run the simulation: send mail, create and change people, push cases, move the clock, wait for replies. | |
| Admin | Also logins (Accounts), webhooks, fault rules, recipient rules, link rules, retention and the World. | Also create and rename universes, and manage API keys. |
| Owner | Everything. | Also members, billing, renaming the organization and deleting universes. |
An organization always has at least one owner.
API keys have a role too, but never owner. See API keys.
Members
Section titled “Members”Owners add members under Team. Give their email and a role. Someone without a simmail account yet also needs a first password (10 characters or more); share it with them privately, and they can change it in their profile.
Owners can change a member’s role or remove them. Role changes reach every universe dashboard within 15 minutes. See Single sign-on.
Your plan sets how many members the organization can have.
Universes
Section titled “Universes”See Universes. Admins create and rename them; owners delete them. Your plan sets how many you can have.
Under Plan & usage, every member can see the plan, its limits, and how much of each the organization has used this month. Monthly allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). See Plans and limits.
Suspended organizations
Section titled “Suspended organizations”A suspended organization can still read everything, but every change answers 403 “this organization is suspended; contact support”.
